Marathon Stories - NYC 2009
Our very own Future Flyer Lauren P was the lucky local kid to introduce the ING New York City Marathon Champion Derartu Tulu at the start of Sunday's race - Lauren/Derartu (scroll down). Lauren's proud Dad Anthony says they had a great time on Sunday - Lauren even got to warm up with Tulu before the race! Then they were whisked away by VIP bus to the finish line where they had great seats to watch their new favorite Ethiopian win the race!
Earlier in the week, Lauren (following in Dad's fast footsteps) competed in the Run with the Champions with 1,385 runners and placed 68th overall, and 8th female!! Not bad considering Lauren is only 9 years old and was the youngest kid in the race! But it's no surprise - she also competed in the Milrose Games in January!!
