Flyers Go Clubbing

The NYRR Club Night 2012 took place on a Thursday night, March 1, at the Hard Rock Cafe. This annual event is the NYRR's answer to the Oscars. Fifty dollars gets you a light dinner buffet, two drinks of your choice (plus a cash bar), and dancing.

Of course, the highlight of the event is the awards. Like the at the Flyers Annual Awards Gala, the NYRR honors the top runners in each age group, as well as the top teams, Achilles athletes, ultrarunners, and other achivements.

With over 60,000 NYRR members, a nomination by the NYRR is a high honor. Christine M of the Flyers was honored for the second year in a row in the 45-49 category. The Flyer women's veterans team placed second in the city, and the Flyer women's masters team placed third. Each time, the strong, fit, gorgeous Flyer women took to the stage to accept their awards and pose for photos.

More than 25 Flyers turned out to dance, drink, and cheer on our fellow runners. After the awards, the men's 80+ award winner, Leo Schonhaut, danced up a storm with the Flyers.
